So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them.
They brought the donkey and the colt,
laid their clothes on them, and set Him
on them.
And a very great multitude
spread their clothes on the road;
others cut down branches from the
trees
and spread them on the road.
Then the multitudes who went before
and those who followed cried out,
saying:
“Hosanna to the Son of David!
‘Blessed
is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
Hosanna in the highest!”
Matthew 21:6-10 NKJV
beautiful blue skies
bright sun
people pressing in to see Jesus
putting their garments
on the colt
laying their garments and
palm branches on the road
expressions
of homage
by
the people
allegiance
. . . loyalty . . . worship . . .
declaration
of lordship
can you hear their heart as they shout
Hosanna . . . Save Now!
a
plea from the oppressed
for
deliverance
looking
. . . expecting . . . an earthly king
to free them
to make things right
“The
Triumphal Entry”
would
there have been such celebration
on
this one day
the
Sunday before Jesus’ crucifixion on Friday
had
they fully known . . . fully understood
God’s
plan
for the true Triumphal Entry
Every
day . . . all day
in
every circumstance
Lay
down my garments
(my
cares, worries, everything contrary to God’s word)
Lift
up my “palm branches”
(outstretched arms with open hands)
in
praise
acknowledging
Jesus as my
Lord
Savior
King
Hosanna . . . Save Now!
